"Marie Brand" is one of ZDF’s most successful, long-running crime series, broadcasted on various competitive prime-time slots ever since its premiere in 2008 and always performing with outstanding numbers.The heart of the show is formed by the unique interaction of the two leading characters Marie Brand (Mariele Millowitsch), a police officer with extraordinary deductive skills, and her slightly overactive colleague, the notorious womanizer Jürgen Simmel (Hinnerk Schönemann) -  two bright characters who solve murder cases in the dark world of crime.
