Long-term documentary follows the club on its emotional return to the Bundesliga

FC Schalke 04 has been relegated. The whole of Gelsenkirchen is shocked. There are unimaginable scenes. Never before has the traditional club been so torn, so broken. Those in charge, who have only been at the helm for a few months, have a complete mess on their hands and have to put together a new, strong squad, despite huge debts. The new team is preparing for a journey that will demand everything of them. The club has one clear goal: “BACK TO US!”

On 15th May 2022, FC Schalke 04 is promoted back up to the Bundesliga right away. One year earlier, the club from the Ruhr region was on its knees – both in sporting and economic terms. The six-part documentary “Schalke 04 – Zurück zum Wir” ("Schalke 04 – Back to Us”) shows how the team in royal blue found its way back to its old self. The documentary follows the club in one of its darkest hours and gives viewers exclusive insights into its “comeback” mission.
